What are Mishloach Manot Mishloach Manot?
It is written in Megilat Esther (the Scroll of Esther) that "each person should send portions" of food (Mishloach Manot) to a friend to commemorate the miraculous defeat of Haman and his sinister plan to destroy the Jewish people in 356 BCE. The Jewish people have performed this fun, friendly and commemorative mitzvah for nearly 2400 years! DAT is proud to continue its tradition of preparing and hand delivering Mishloach Manot (Purim food baskets) to your friends and family within our community. As a major fundraising event, your participation directly supports DAT's unique educational dual curriculum day school programs.

Our rabbis have instructed us to send a basket of food, containing at least 2 different food items to one friend or neighbor on the day of Purim. Our Mishloach Manot Service may not fulfill your obligation for this communal mitzvah, as your baskets may be delivered several days before the holiday. This year Purim begins on Wednesday night March 7th and continues through Thursday, March 8th, 2012. Purim is a fun and busy holiday, filled with activities such as hearing the reading of the Book of Esther twice (on Purim night and again the next morning), delivering Mishloach Manot and eating the required Purim Feast on Purim day.

How does our service work?
Through this website, you will be able to order professionally created baskets to any residence or business in the central Denver area (as defined by boundaries in the map below). All basket recipients will receive a single basket with an attached card, listing all those who sent that basket. Students, families and friends of DAT will personally deliver the baskets you ordered.

Our Mishloach Manot Service is an important fundraiser for our school. School tuition alone does not cover the cost of a dual curriculum day school education, and DAT provides over $400,000 in student scholarships each year for families requiring financial assistance. Projects like this help raise the necessary funds which allow us to continue educating our students and pay our dedicated and talented teachers and staff. On behalf of DAT's student body and Board of Directors, we thank you for using this convenient and communal service to assist our school's financial needs.

Support Israel!How am I supporting Israel by buying these Mishloach Manot?

Your purchase not only supports DAT but the State of Israel's economy as well.

What website features will make it easy for me to order?
In an effort to better serve our community and enhance our service to you, we have the following features:
  • Begin with last year's selections - when you enter the site, you will automatically see a check mark next to every name you selected last year. Feel free to review, add, or delete names as you choose. You may also erase the entire order selection, and start from the beginning;
  • Save feature - you can enter and exit the site as many times as you like (before payment) to edit and review your order. The website will save any names you have selected, allowing you to return later and continue the selection process at your convenience. Your order is finalized once you have completed the payment process, preventing you from editing that order any further. You may however revisit the site and enter additional orders if desired;
  • Email confirmation and itemization of your order (if you provide us with your email address during the self identification process);
  • Printer friendly format to print your order at any point during your selection process;
  • Reciprocity only - for those who appreciate the simplicity of selecting "reciprocity only".
What is the Reciprocity option?
Reciprocity is a service we provide to ensure that everyone who sent you a basket will receive a basket from you in return, even if you happened to overlook that individual during your order selection. By selecting the reciprocity button on the website, your order will be analyzed after online ordering is complete and  will be updated to include anyone who sent you a basket but whose name was not selected in your initial order. This service costs $12/basket and the total additional charge will be billed to your credit card at the beginning of March.

What are Purim Cards?
In addition to or instead of baskets, you can order custom printed Purim cards at a cost of $6/card. These colorful cards will be custom printed with your family's or business's name, and mailed to you by Monday, February 15th (2 weeks before Purim) for your personal use. This is a great way to recognize friends and families outside of our delivery area!

When ordering Purim cards, please carefully review how you wish your name to appear in the identifying information portion of the website.
